Support & Help Lines - LGBTQ

LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals. The acronym LGBTQ is used for simplicity, yet represents a diversity of gender identification and sexual orientation.

Many of those in the LGBTQ community have been ostracized, harassed, endured sexual abuse and/or physical abuse as a consequence of their gender identity or sexual orientation. This means being at a higher risk for emotional pain, feelings of isolation, hopelessness and suicide.

If you are experiencing this kind of stress or pain, you are not alone, and there are resources available to help. Listed here are local as well as national programs that provide information and support for LGBTQ individuals, allies and loved ones.

If there is a program or resource you would like to see represented on this page, please contact the Suicide Prevention Program.
