Sharps kiosks are designed for the safe collection of needles, syringes, and lancets.

Kiosks are not designed for the safe disposal of loose sharps.

Always use a sharps container or a puncture proof container, with a lid secured with duct tape.
Container Options for Sharps Kiosk
When possible, you should use an FDA approved sharps container.
Community members can access free sharps containers for home-generated sharps at Shasta County's Public Healths Syringe Services Program.
If you don't have access to a sharps container follow the guidelines below.

Use a puncture proof container (heavy-duty plastic)

Use a container with a tight-fitting lid

Secure lid with duct tap

Label the container "Sharps"
