SHASTA COUNTY – Looking for locally grown food like pecans, peaches or eggs? Check out the new Local Farms and Food Vendor Listing on the Healthy Shasta website!  Eating locally supports our community and our environment. Whether you’re a foodie or just shopping for the week, the vendor list will help you find the local foods you desire.

The new Local Farms and Food Vendor Listing, is a community resource of local producers in Northern California. This list focuses on whole foods to support the goals of Healthy Shasta by connecting Shasta County residents to local foods for making healthy choices.

The Local Farms and Food Vendor Listing came out of a federal Local Food, Local Places program workshop with several community partners including the City of Redding, The McConnell Foundation, Women’s Business Center at JEDI, Viva Downtown Redding, and Shasta County HHSA. With the program’s assistance, participants developed an action plan to:

  • build the local food system
  • improve food access
  • support a vibrant Redding

One of the actions was to develop an online list of local food producers. To make the healthy choice the easy choice, Healthy Shasta staff collaborated with local food producers and the Shasta Growers Association to create a searchable, online listing of locally grown or produced foods.

If you are a farmer, rancher, or grower and would like to be added to the vendor listing, please reach out to us through the Healthy Shasta website contact page.

“We are grateful to our friends at Healthy Shasta for promoting local farms, growers, producers, and our local certified farmers’ markets. The new Local Farms and Food Vendor Listing provides a valuable, local resource that is sure to build connections between individuals and the producers who nourish them,” Audrey Pascone, local farmer at Red Gate Ranch and Treasurer of the Shasta Growers Association.
