Beginning December 20, 2023 until further notice, all Fire Hazard Reduction burn permit fees are being paid for through the Prescribed Burn Reporting and Monitoring Support Program funded by the California Air Resources Board.

Today is a permissive-burn day in all areas of Shasta County. For residential burning within the fire districts of City of Redding, Buckeye, Shasta Lake, or Fall River Valley, you must obtain a burn permit from your local fire department. Residences in the State Responsibility Area must obtain a permit online from CalFire. Burn piles over 4 feet in diameter are required to have a permit from the Shasta County Air Quality Management District. Below 1,000 feet in elevation, the burn hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the fires being completely out by 5 p.m. Above 1,000 feet in elevation, burn hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12 midnight.
