Ozone Transport Study
The California Clean Air Act of 1988 requires the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to assess which regions in the state contribute air pollutants to downwind areas and cause those downwind areas to exceed state air quality standards.
The District contracted with Sonoma Technology, Inc. (STI) to undertake the Shasta County Ozone and Ozone Precursor Transport Quantification Study. The study was completed in March 1997. It was designed to gather the data necessary to quantify pollutant transport from upwind areas, relative contributions of local emissions, and of local Interstate Highway 5 vehicle emissions. The study is available for review at the District office.
