An eligible list is comprised of all the candidates that passed the initial qualification screening process. If an exam is included as part of the recruitment process, candidates are places on the list according to their score and ranking for that particular exam. The department(s) can interview anyone in the top ten ranks of the list. Candidate’s rankings can change as candidates are removed from the list.
For open recruitments: The life span of the list varies dependent on number of applications and position. A hiring department can close a list if it is greater than 1 year old or if it contains 5 or fewer remaining names. Eligible lists will expire after 2 years regardless of the number of remaining candidates.
For continuous recruitments: If added to an eligible list for a continuous recruitment, you cannot apply to the same recruitment for 6 months. Candidates are removed from the list after 1 year.
If tentative testing dates are available, they are listed at the top of the job announcement.
If unable to make your scheduled exam time please contact our office and ask to speak to the Personnel Assistant in charge of that exam to explain your situation.
