Shasta County Board of Supervisors Proclaim September 2024 As Recovery Month

SHASTA COUNTY – On Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors heard recovery stories and information about the many services available through Shasta County-run recovery programs. Chair Kevin Crye signed the board’s proclamation recognizing September 2024 as Recovery Month, the first of its kind for Shasta County.

During the proclamation ceremony, three Shasta County staff members shared portions of their recovery stories. Their accounts offer hope for others struggling with addiction, demonstrate that help is available, and show that recovery is possible. Shasta County Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Programs are ready and waiting for those seeking help on their journey to recovery.

Shasta County SUD programs include the following:

The Recovery Coach Program is the hub of our alcohol and drug department. Program staff are willing to do whatever it takes to help clients anywhere in Shasta County to initiate or maintain recovery.

The CORE Program is an outpatient SUD program designed to serve the co-occurring population who suffer from severe mental health symptoms. Participants are likely receiving services through Shasta County’s mental health programs and need specialized care addressing addiction issues.

The Addicted Offender Program is an outpatient SUD treatment. Staff members collaborate with the Shasta County Superior Court and Probation Department to address severe addiction that drives criminal behavior.

The Behavioral Health Court Program is an outpatient mental health treatment program. Staff members collaborate with Shasta County Superior Court and Probation Department to address moderate to severe mental health needs driving criminal behavior.

The AB109 LINK Program is an access program, co-located within the Shasta County Probation Department. It serves a population of people who generally do not seek services on their own. Staff members provide case management and referral services to individuals on probation in Shasta County after leaving prison or jail.

Women’s Recovery & Resiliency Services is an intensive outpatient treatment program for women enrolled in Partnership Health Care. Women learn skills and are provided opportunities to conquer addiction and raise their children in safe, nurturing and drug-free environments. From September 2023 to August 2024, 50 women within Shasta County received treatment services.

The CalWORKs Behavioral Health Team (BHT) offers professional, client-centered services, such as screening and assessment, behavioral counseling, advocacy, referrals, therapy and support. BHT is a prevention-based program designed to assist those who are at risk but do not meet the criteria for an SUD diagnosis. From August 2023 to August 2024, 228 CalWORKs families with established cases received services.

In 2023, 7,920 Partnership Health Plan members with an SUD were served in Shasta County, Partnership data reflects.  Of these, 2,128 were opioid-related, 1,926 were stimulant-related and 1,676 were related to alcohol.

Partnership Health Plan and Medi-Cal now cover more substance-use treatment services than ever through the Wellness and Recovery program. To connect to treatment, call 1 (855) 765-9703, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Or, walk into Shasta County Mental Health at 2640 Breslauer Way in Redding between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and ask to speak with someone about recovery services.
