Child Support Awareness Month 2024

Child Support Services Proclamation

As we recognize August as Child Support Awareness Month, Shasta County proudly joins the statewide initiative to highlight the importance of child support services. The Shasta County Department of Child Support Services plays a vital role in ensuring the financial, healthcare, and emotional needs of children in our community are met by both parents.

The department currently assists 8,117 families, providing crucial support to help children thrive. Notably, 5,187 of these families are former recipients of government cash aid, underscoring the department’s impact on those transitioning towards financial independence. Over the past year, ending May 31, 2024, the department has successfully collected and disbursed more than $17 million in current and past-due child support payments. This significant achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of children in Shasta County.

This August, we celebrate Child Support Awareness Month and reaffirm our dedication to innovative enforcement of support orders. By doing so, we ensure that every child in Shasta County receives the essential resources they deserve for a brighter future.

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors is proud to proclaim August 2024 as "Child Support Awareness Month" and applauds the efforts of the Department of Child Support Services in making a meaningful difference in our community.
