"AlertShasta" - Shasta County's New Public Warning System

Shasta County is transitioning to a new emergency alert and public warning system, AlertShasta. Our previous alerting system, CodeRed, will no longer be used after May 1, 2024. If you have previously signed up with CodeRed and would like to continue to receive alerts, you must register for AlertShasta.

AlertShasta is a significant upgrade and introduces a range of enhanced features to ensure effective communication during both emergency and non-emergency situations. This new public warning system is available for all residents of Shasta County.

All residents are urged to sign up by scanning the QR code with your smartphone. If you would like to register using your computer, visit www.shascom911.com and click on the “AlertShasta” tab near the bottom of the page.

Key features include:

• Comprehensive alerts during natural disasters, public safety concerns and other emergencies.
• Options to receive alerts via text messages, phone call, or email.
• Advanced geolocation technology that delivers targeted alerts based on your specific location, minimizing unnecessary disruptions.

It is important to note, AlertShasta is a product of Genasys that works in conjunction with, but is not the same software as Genasys Protect, formerly known as Zonehaven, implemented last year in Shasta County. For information about Genasys Protect, visit protect.genasys.com, enter your address in the search bar, and make note of what zone you are in. In an emergency, first responders can use this system to quickly notify the public of evacuations and more. Know Your Zone and share the information with your friends and loved ones. We recommend signing up for both notification systems.
