Employee of the Month - July '23
Hailey Collord-Stalder, Deputy Coroner Investigator II, has been named the Shasta County Employee of the Month for July 2023.
Hailey maintains a positive and friendly attitude throughout all her interactions with the public, coworkers, and the Coroner’s Office while searching, handling, and processing cases. Hailey has an extensive background in forensic anthropology and has proven to be an asset to the Sheriff’s Department and the County. Hailey utilizes her experience to solve missing persons and unidentified skeletal remains cases, providing much needed closure to families of the deceased. Hailey is honest, yet compassionate when speaking to families of decedents. She answers their questions tactfully while providing the information they are requesting in a way that is easy for them to understand.
Hailey is the first person to volunteer to assist with case work, regardless of how busy she may be. She understands the importance of teamwork as it relates to conducting thorough and efficient investigations. Hailey seeks out training opportunities for herself and her co-workers to further expand their knowledge of death investigations. Hailey works efficiently, allowing time to update families and answer their questions while completing documents necessary to close cases. She is often seen at the office on her day off working overtime to complete her reports. Hailey consistently maintains a high level of performance and positivity and works diligently to assist those she encounters.
Hailey developed what the Coroner’s Office calls the “bone box” which is a toolbox containing necessary tools used during the recovery of skeletal remains in a variety of environmental circumstances, including remains that are buried, scattered, or found near waterways. This is an invaluable resource to assist the Deputy Coroner Investigators with recovering as many skeletal pieces as possible, which aids in solving the investigation and providing the family with closure.
Hailey’s enthusiasm for this specialized area is infectious to those lucky enough to work with her. Her compassion for decedents and their loved ones shows through her hard work and communication. She is a wonderful example of the Sheriff’s Office motto “Service with Pride and Excellence”.
Congratulations Hailey! We are thankful to have a Public Servant as dedicated as you serving and protecting our community.
