Our office operates the Housing Choice Voucher program for the counties of Modoc, Shasta (outside of Redding city limits), Siskiyou, and Trinity.

What is the Housing Choice Voucher Program?
This program supports low income families by increasing affordable housing choices. The family chooses and leases a unit that suits their needs and budget and the cost of rent is shared between the Housing Authority and the family. Assistance is provided to the family for as long as the family remains income eligible. See the tables below for the current income limits.

Can I rent a room on this program?
Yes, this is called shared housing. In an effort to increase affordable housing options this is allowed under the Shasta County Housing HCV program Administrative Plan. A family may share a unit with others who are also assisted under the HCV program, or with unassisted persons. The owner of a shared unit may live in the unit, but housing assistance may not be paid on behalf of the owner. If you are interested in this option, contact your Housing Program Specialist to talk about your options.
