New CEO Contract Approved

In the May 16, 2023 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board approved a contract appointing David J. Rickert as the County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board of Shasta County for a three year term commencing on May 30, 2023.

Mr. Rickert has 22 years of county experience as Kane County Treasurer in Illinois and has most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for Winnebago County. He has a Master of Science degree in Accounting with honors from Roosevelt University and has been a Licensed Certified Public Account for 22 years.

The former County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board of Shasta County resigned effective June 18, 2022.  Since his departure, two employees have served as Acting County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board while a competitive recruitment was conducted to fill the position.

An outside recruitment firm, WBCP, Inc., was contracted to conduct a competitive national recruitment, applications were screened, and interviews were held in February of 2023. Through that process, Mr. Rickert was identified as a well-qualified candidate and was subsequently offered the position of County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board.

Due to his qualifications and experience, it is recommended the Shasta County Board of Supervisors appoint Mr. David J. Rickert as the County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board for Shasta County for a three-year term commencing on May 30, 2023, and establish Mr. Rickert’s salary at the C step salary range ($124.325 per hour/ $21,550 per month) for the position of County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board.
