Jail Expansion and Planning

Shasta County is in the early stages of planning expansion to the current downtown jail facility.

On January 10, 2023, the Board of Supervisors the Board of Supervisors directed staff to examine all funding possibilities and begin the CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) process for expanding the jail at its downtown location, using Option A at the existing jail with modifications to accommodate a transportation construction project, as explained by staff at the Board meeting on August 16, 2022.
