ARPA Funds Approved for Supportive Services in Micro-Shelter Communities
Shasta County recently received almost $35 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan to help the community recover from the effects of the pandemic. The County's Board of Supervisors recently approved a plan to spend this money, which included a $300,000 sub-award to the City of Redding.
The City of Redding is currently working on a program to develop micro shelter communities. These communities will provide housing for people in need, and the $300,000 sub-award will be used to provide supportive services to the people living in these communities.
These supportive services will be provided by a vendor that the City of Redding is currently in negotiations with. The services will include case management, help with drug and alcohol treatment, mental health treatment, assistance in applying for government aid programs, education on money management, and help finding permanent housing.
The agreement between Shasta County and the City of Redding is retroactive, which means that it will cover the period from January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. This is because the negotiations between the City of Redding and the vendor could not be finalized until after the City had developed its micro shelter community program.
Overall, this agreement will help support the micro shelter communities being developed by the City of Redding and provide much-needed services to people in need in the community. The funds from the American Rescue Plan are being put to good use in helping the community recover from the pandemic
