2nd Amendment Resolution to be Brought Back for Later Discussion

BOS Meeting 2/21/23

The Board of Supervisors agreed to revisit discussions in regards to adopting a resolution to the Second Amendment at a later date, to be determined.  After much discussion durring the February 21, 2023 meeting, the board remained split on which version of the resolution to adopt. Supervisor Crye proposed the Board take more time to examine the full implications of each resolution before making a decision.

The resolution was prepared in response to recent discussions at Board of Supervisors' meetings. It was presented to the Board at the request of Chairman Jones. The resolution was initially drafted and submitted by the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) in collaboration with the Shasta County Gun Owners: A CRPA Chapter.

Staff proposed edits to ensure the resolution does not exceed the Board of Supervisors' legal authority, as noted and explained on the red-line version of the resolution, attached in the linked staff report.
